What is the Refresh Conference?

Refresh Chicago is a Christian conference designed for foster and adoptive parents, Safe Family parents, kinship providers, grandparents, pastors, psychologists, social workers, licensed counselors, marriage and family counselors, nurses, and all those who care for orphaned and vulnerable children. We understand firsthand that this journey can be difficult and lonely. The Refresh Chicago Conference is a time for you to escape from the distractions and chaos of life and be physically, emotionally, spiritually refreshed, and inspired. Refresh Chicago is not a foster/adoptive recruiting conference. It is all about supporting parents like you on your post-placement journey.

Is Refresh faith-based?

The Refresh Chicago Conference is a Christian conference hosted by Replanted Ministry, but the conference is not limited to only people of the same faith. All are welcome.

What should I expect?

During the conference there are four main sessions, plus a variety of workshops broken into breakout sessions, on topics designed specifically to equip you on this journey. There are also pre-conference intensives available to you at an additional cost.

What if we haven’t adopted/foster yet?

For you overachievers, you are welcome to attend! We believe it’s important to surround yourself with support, information, and others who get it. We will have a pre-conference option designed specifically for those considering adoption/foster care or those who are in the early stages. However, this conference is not a recruiting event. Rather, the Refresh Chicago conference is about supporting those who are already caring for vulnerable children.

Is there a couple’s discount?

Unfortunately, no. Pricing is based per person.

Is there childcare available?

Childcare will not be available at the Refresh Chicago Conference. Due to the nature of topics discussed and in order to provide participants with the opportunity to relax, though we love kids (and we really love kids), this conference is a “Kid Free” event.

Can I bring my baby?

This is a “KID FREE” event. That means as much as we love kids (and we really love kids) we are trying to create an environment where parents and caregivers are able to relax, unwind, and of course be Refreshed. So please no children of any age and no exceptions. Our participants thank you!!

Can I register for one day of the conference instead of the whole conference?

Unfortunately, registration is for the entire conference, but please feel free to come to whichever portions you are able.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

We are able to refund 50% of your registration fee 30 days prior to the conference. After that we are very sorry, but we are unable to issue refunds.

What meals are included in the price?

Meals are not included in the regular Friday/Saturday conference registration. We will have food trucks onsite for your convenience, otherwise you are welcome to pack your own lunch or go to a local restaurant during the 1.5hr lunch break. Meals will be provided for the pre-conference intensives on Thursday.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

We will not be able to meet every dietary need so please plan ahead and be prepared to provide meals for yourself.

Will lunch be provided at the conference?

Lunch and dinner will be provided for the pre-conference. For those registered for the conference, we will provide paid meal options onsite.

Are scholarships available?

Our scholarship deadline has expired.

Where can I find a list of speakers and workshops?

You can find a full list of speakers and workshops on our homepage.

What is “Friday Night Social”?

Friday Night Social is meant to be a fun time for the Refresh community to connect with one another. We will offer a little bit of entertainment, some hors d’oeuvres, and an environment where we hope you will laugh, unwind and connect with others. Our hope is that the remainder of the evening will be time for self-care – whether you go out with new or old friends, have dinner with your partner, watch a movie, or head to bed early for some uninterrupted sleep, we want you to recharge your batteries and enjoy a night to yourself.

Where can I find a schedule?

We have the full schedule of events on the homepage.

What hotels are nearby, and are there special rates?

There are a few hotels in the area which all offer a special Refresh Chicago Conference group rate. Click here.

What airport I should fly into?

You can fly into either Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) or Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW). Wheaton Bible Church is approximately 25 miles from O’Hare and 35 miles from Midway.

IS TRAINING CREDIT AVAILABLE TO FOSTER PARENTS?
